I'm currently revising my entire IT setup - would run to run my ADSL modem and MikroTik router on a 16v voltage with 12v battery backup...
Lasts much longer on direct 12v than UPS / Inverter setup.

I need an ADSL modem with the following specs
- Running on 9-16 volts DC
- Bridge mode (MikroTik is establishinh PPPoE connection)
- Preferably 4-port Ethernet, 1-port is also OK

Thanks it. So far I have the following products:
PLANET ADSL 2/2+ 4-Port Router, ADE-4400 (http://www.scoopdistribution.co.za/product_info.php?products_id=295)

PLANET ADE-3400

Any ideas?

Why worry? Load shedding has stopped, for now at least

The Mecer USB powered version is fine for normal connections ; I need to use it in Bridge mode in order for the MikroTik router to open multiple PPPoE connections..

And yes, this is for load-shedding ; Eskom gave us another week to prepare ourselves.

All Linksys routers AFAIK run off 12V. My old ADSL2MUE did, and I'm pretty sure all the newer ones do too

The Linksys ADSL2MUE DSL modem runs on 5V DC and the wrt54g router/WIFI runs on 12V DC. (But the ADSL2MUE has been discontinued as far as I know.)

BUT...check on the power supply of the particular unit what the power and voltage rating is of each piece of kit. SOme DSL modems use 5V or 12 V AC.

grubs
