Anyone brave enough out there to explain the meaning and the standard settings for the DSL modems.

Which protocol to select for bridging and routing and the meanings behind the VC's, LLC's, DHCP relay on or off if you are bridging, and the normal settings

Standard things you should enable
PPPoE (not PPPoA )
Service name - "" (blank)
LLC encapsulation
VPI 8
VCI 35

DHCP relay would forward an existing DHCP server's traffic to anything that connects to it,forwarding dhcp requests to and from said server

Half-bridge/bridge modes don't use many different settings and the wording can be very specific to different routers sadly

Thats the short of it,kinda busy here at work so popped in to give the gist of the answer :)

just also wanna find out since we on the topic on modem settings.... on the d-link routers how do u go about enabling bridging? so can dial up through windows dial up so can use one username on routers and dial up through windows dial with another username?
