I have a USB Fujitsu ADSL modem. Since last month I have been plagued with sync loss problems. It happens now and then not all the time. I don’t see that it is high temps or the rain. It’s just random. I would connect then 20 minutes later it’s disconnected and the modem tries to train again. Some times I have to plug it out and back again for the training to be successful. Some times it would stay online for 5-10 minutes. And sum days its unusable.

Telkom tells me on their end its fine. So they sent out a technician to check.
They plugged in their modem and tested my line. it was fine. Then I tested my modem, it was fine. OK I had to pay for the call out…but the sync loss still happens now and then.

Is it my cabling or the modem or their D-Slam. I am at a loss since I could not prove to them it wasn’t my Modem or line. They tell me the D-slam is fine also and no problems was found.

Plz lemme know what it is. If the sync loss happens again Friday when I want to play in the BF2 tournament I am going kill em all.

I had this happen to me with the Marconi modem. It turned out that when it was windy a bush that had grown over the cable caused it to move excessively. Evidently, in addition, many of the connections between cables and poles were corroded and also to be reconnected.

I also had it checked numerous times and got the usual reply. Eventually one of the techs picked it up when he was at my house on a windy day. They trimmed the bush, replaced the cable and I haven't had a sync problem since - over a year ago.

It might also be electromagnetic interference from an electric fence, although I suspect you would see it dropping regularly, not randomly as you suggest.

i have the same problem, using a belkin wireless router F5D7633-4, i cant seem to figure out a pattern either, just like when i had isdn, its just random disconnects.

I have tried everything again...moving cables and modem everywhere and nothing has changed.I still get random disconnects all the time. This week has been real bad(March).
About 50% I can't do anything. I am starting to think it is weather related.
As they say it might be the ESR or DSLAM thats making problerms.
Telkom still say its my modem.I am getting a 4 port router ADSL modem this month...so Ill see if its my fault or not.

Get a new Router

I run a smallish IT business. Moved lots of cuzzies onto ADSL. Use 1MB myself. Stick to the SMC, NetGear or Microcom Routers. No *** with Telkom Lines. If it is the cable, you will still thank me for getting a new router anyway, and you'll know it's the line. Bet you it's your current router,....
