Adsl new service through isp

Hi thereIi wander if anyone can tell me how long it should take to repair an adsl line, the phone line works fine my isp said that telkom has setup the line but it does not work and has not worked at all no adsl light at all not even one flash. Reported fault on 22/12/2014 1brk221214 telkom phoned me and reset the port and then said they will send out a tech and I am still waiting. Thanks from Craig.

Is the adsl light on? If it is only the internet light that is dead on the router it might be that for whatever reason the ISP account not authenticating.... It might not be a Telkom adsl line fault?

What router are you using?
Log into your router and see if the line is syncing. If it is. Let us try and configure it again.
If it is configured correctly try using another ISP's free account like the 1GB free data account with Afrihost,Axxess,Openweb or Webafrica.

If that fails you can wait for a technician to come.
 
No the adsl light does not come on at all as if the line is not connected to the modem. But i tryed the modem at a friends home and it works with the telkom guest account. I am using a TPlink tdw8970

Yeah no then you will have to wait for a Telkom technician to come out and fix it. Problem likely at the distribution box or port @ the exchange.... I think you will be down for longer than usual because there are a lot of holidays now.

If your line is with Telkom you will get a credit for the downtime on your next invoice. Make sure to keep fault number you have opened and a record of the duration of the downtime so if they do not credit you automatically you can call 10210 and go to the billing option and ask for a credit.

Hi there telkom tech cameout today checked a bit at home could not find the fault he then went to the exchange the adsl light went on and off a few times then the line went dead for about 20 minuts when it came back on the adsl sync was there so he must have changed some module at the exchange and all is working great. Just thought that i would finish this subject thanks for the advice from all.
