I've had a new ADSL account installed for just over a week.
On Thursday it went down at around 4:45pm and I noticed it come up at around 10pm. I went back to using dial-up, but that, too, stopped working. I just kept dialling in, getting handshakes, almost connecting and then disconnecting.
If I was a cynic I would say that Telkom was trying to get me to use my dial-up account!
Then yesterday it went down in the morning and late last night it was still out. Just came on again this morning.
The dialup was okay, though, I could still get on.
But, why am I paying for a 'always-on' service if it's not always on?
