Following the little uproar about the standard username and password setting on the Telkom/Marconi ADSL POTS modems I looked at the Telkom webpage explaining how to change the standard username and password sets.
The part I don't understand is the part about specifying the fixed IP and then logging on to an IP which in effect is the modem's setup screen. The Telkom instructions say that you must "Set the PC IP Address under TCP/IP for Ethernet card on computer to: 192.168.10.100 ". Which ethernet card? The Ethernet adapter that is installed when you install the ADSL modem?? Or do I have to change it on the ADSL dial-up adapter's TCPIP settings? Surely it cannot be my standard ethernet network card?
Then the instructions go on to tell you to access the address 192.168.10.200
- should it not be 192.168.10.100 (the IP I just set up)??
Should I attempt the Telkom process with my ADSL dial-up connected or disconnected?
Please, someone guide me through the process with a little more detail than the Telkom instructions?
