Hi,

I ordered dsl the other day and should be receiving it in the next 21 days. (dont think thats possible with telkom anywayz ::: )

I am aware of the fact that durban, bloemfontein and P.E have been rerouted to Cape Town recently which have effected the pinging to well in the hundreds. I am living in Welkom.. 100 km from bloem.. 200 km to jhb approximately.

Does anyone know if I will also be affected by the rerouting or if I will be directly connected to jhb. What pings can i expect on local gaming servers ?

Thankyou for your time.
Regards,
Marco

your talking about ping times on ADSL? well sheesh that should be the same if not better than your ISDN I know some guys who get around 40-50ping with ADSL from DBN and I get aroun 70-80 so expect a 20-30 ping drop my guess:)

Yes Cerberus, I can expect anything from around 20-35 on my adsl. My isdn currently gets me around a 40-60 ping.

What im trying to say is recently alot of places have been rerouted to cape town - durban so those guys on adsl who used to get nice pings anywhere from 20-40 are getting a mimimum of 70. I know Bloemfontein , Durban, P.E have this problem.

I am just worried I land up in the same disaster :( I hope not.. I should be routed to rrba which would be the best but I'm not sure to where I will be routed. A way I can find out ?

Marco.

Well I live in Durban and when I had ISDN + R7 call I used to dial JHB and have pings to UT2003 servers at Mweb around 45. If I dialed local pop my ISDN pings were around 75.
Then I got ADSL and my pings to Mweb averaged around 65 - never better.
Now since they have routed us down to the bottom of the world when I now join a server my ping starts out at around 300 and slowly it drops to around 70 but by the time it gets there the friggin level is over - this sucks and I cannot wait to dump the rubbish ADSL.
My international surfing is now much slower than what my ISDN ever was.
