ADSL Ports Available - Specific to speed.

Hi Guys,

I've currently got a 2mb ADSL line (through Afrihost), and I recently tried to upgrade my account to the 10mb bundled package, But when Afrihost tried to upgrade my line speed with Telkom, Telkom canceled the order... Apparently this was because there are no 4mb/10mb ports available in my area.

Firstly, Does this seem correct? ie. are there only X number of 1mb ports, X number of 2mb ports, and X number of 4mb ports available? (I didn't realise that the ports were broken up into speed groupings)

Secondly, and maybe stupidly, but is there anything I can do other than just re-apply from time to time?

There's possibly a mix of old and new DSLAMs in your exchange with no ports available on the new one.

How frustrating, made worse by the fact that I was previously on 4mb, but downgraded to cut costs, and am now unable to upgrade again.
