Wonder if anyone here can help shed some light on an ADSL issue we are having.

We have a Draytek Vigor V3300 Router with 3 ADSL Modems set up in PPPoE mode for load balancing on 10 Mbps ADSL lines.

Its been working great for years, until Telkom 'upgraded' their side of the ADSL a few weeks ago here in the Rosebank Jhb exchange. Now the router only keeps one line up, it must have something to do with the 'keep alive' mechanisms used, because even in Master-Backup Slave config, only the backup line is kept up after it thinks the Master has failed. All lines work individually if the router is configured with just that line, so all the ISP logins are correct and ADSL modems working. I cant say what is uses to check if the link is up, its not specified. Whatever it is used to work, now doesn't with the changes on the Telkom side.

A workaround will be to set the ADSL Modems up as routers and do the WAN links as Static WAN subnets but that means having to set up the logins etc within the modems.

I have tried different ADSL modems (Netgear and Draytek) - same story.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

What do the logs say?

I'm running load balancing on two ADSL lines using pfSense, haven't had any problems.

Draytek Router only logs to a syslog server (which I havent set up) but I am expecting some help from their support tomorrow am.

Issue here is not really load balancing, I have the same problem in two ports set up as Master-Backup Slave on this router as I said, what's changed at Telkom side that's causing this I think is the issue.

At least I am getting my post count up so I can post a classified ad soon.
