I think at everyone should start including the Telkom "line rental" costs in their advertised prices. I agree that its not the ISP's fault that Telkom is "forcing" home phone lines on us. But since you're not able to exclude the home line...?

Yes their pricing advertised is always assuming you have a Telkom line already.

Agreed +1000, it's retarded that in this day and age they still don't add in the line rental costs, it's like saying to someone who doesn't know anything about adsl/internet, that you can get mweb uncapped for R219, so now that person thinks that it will only cost R219pm.. not knowing that he has to pay line rental fees also.

They make is sound so cheap, when in reality it isn't the case.

Are you talking about Phone line rental or ADSL line rental? Either way, it makes little sense for say MWeb to include something into their advertised price that you won't actually be paying to them but rather to Telkom/Another ISP.

For this ADSL connection I'm using right now:
Telkom gets R133.30 (Line Rental)
Web Africa gets R152 (ADSL Rental)
Now if I buy 1 gig (R29) from afrihost, you want them to advertise it at R162 (29+133)?:erm:

This is why you either ask on myBroadband or go to a Telkom shop to ask for all the costs involved.

I agree that they should be more transparent with regards to the pricing, but then you will most likely also start complaining about ISP's who are marketing ~50GB data as "uncapped" !

Some ISP's have 3 options (eg. WebAfrica): ADSL line rental / ADSL data / ADSL bundles (with line rental and data)

Most users simply jump buy/sign ADSL contracts like they do with all their shopping, instead of doing research on the prices beforehand!
The Telkom Simple is so stupid, because you can get the ADSL line installation for free with a few tricks :D + the routers Telkom provide are retarded and expensive.
