I notice the problem at home, then when I got to work they were having the same problem there.

Having an issue authentication with both Mweb and Webafrica. Both adsl router are syncing with the DSLAM though.

I live pretty close to work and I think Im on the same telephone exchange as my work.

I have the exact same problem at a customer of mine in the CBD. They are based in St George's mall. What area are you in? I tend to think its an exchange issue and have since migrated them to 3G for failover.

What turn around time did Telkom provide you with? I got told 1 calendar day which should mean it will only be addressed on Monday...

Perhaps we can find out how many people are affected.

Keep the info coming.

Thanks
J

Hi

Yes Im close to strand street and the about 100m for st Georges mall, I believe we use the Leeusig exchange, and this is were the problem is.

The wife phone Telkom to log a problem, they could not give her any idications of when it will be fixed.

At the moment we are using a backup wireless link at work, unfortunately at home I dont have any real alternative, except my phone. There goes my gaming for the weekend.

Also, Sun Valley area and Vredehoek (Barrack Street)...

Resetting of line does not help nor recreation of port. Seems it lasts for +/- 24 hours and the line then authenticates again.

Don't know if this will help for others, however have noticed that when authenticating with Telkom guest account and then logging on with another ISP details the line authenticates again.

Telkom indicates that there are no issues and when trying to relate this info to BEE operators, it is rather frustrating as they point to the ISP's concerned (MWEB; WebAfrica; Cybersmart; TRL Tech; Afrihost) or incorrect authentication details or modem issues.

Seems both Sun Valley and Leeusig exchanges are authenticating again...

Still dead in Tamboerskloof. My router is getting an IP address from the modem (after switching to a guest account, then back to my ISP - thanks who.is.michael), but no data comes through.

Mine came back up at about 11pm last nite, I saw a telkon network notification for lueesig 9, at about 5:30pm yesterday, so from the time of the notification till resolution was only a few hours.

Switch back to the Guest account, browse www.telkom.co.za for a minute or two, then power down the modem for 5 - 10 minutes and try again...

Same problem in Tamboorskloof. No Adsl for 24 hours...

Using Internet on my iPhone only. This sucks!!

Thanks, and also for help over PM. Seems like Tamboerskoof is not yet properly back, though. @Ratinakage: a weird thing - my Tweetdeck is still loading new tweets, even though all websites time out...

Hmmmm.

We can't connect. We are using Telkom for line and Afrihost for ADSL data. So no tweets or anything... ;)

I'm WebAfrica for both (though I have also tried an Afrihost and Telkom data account, with no success). The Tweetdeck thing is just wierd.

We had 5 out of 6 lines down on Friday (bottom of Kloof Street). Looking at the logs, 3 came back to life on Saturday morning and the other 2, last night.

In Loop Street and STILL down, at noon on Tuesday. Absolutely no indication of any progress in fixing the problem.
