ADSL Problem

Hey guys im currently on a 4mg MWEB Uncapped Account.
I also about a new wireless adsl modem (E5104N2 ADSL Wireless Modem)

The problem im experiencing is that on the routers page, on the adsl settings, it tells me that my Attainable rate is 7120 downstream and 836 upstream which im fine with, but for some reason it connects at 384 dowsnstream and 128kbps. Already spoke to my ISP, so im almost certain they are not the problem. So help me out here do you guys think its with TELKOM. Anyways here is how my ADSL status looks like.

Is your ADSL line rental with Telkom or MWEB?

If with Telkom, phone them and ask them what profile you are paying for according to their system. It looks like 384... and not 4096.
 
As MikeyD implied, Telkom has more than just one ADSL package. If you're paying for the 384k package then that's what you're going to get, regardless of what your attainable rate is... so just upgrade to 4Mbps (up to 10Mbps) if you can, it's worth it [=
 
how much is the 'ADSL Rental' on the Telkom bill? i ask to determine if they're making a mistake or if you'll need to upgrade
 
Well around R413 per month excl phone rental... I am paying for a 4mg line from telkom, . What happened was we moved recently and asked to migrate our line to the new place which was done, but im guessing they messed up somewhere. But i think i should harass them again on friday. Tomorrow is a holiday afterall :P

wish telkom had a 24 hours helpline to sort this out. but thanks mickey for all the help much appreciated

24/7: ADSL Support Centre: 0800 375 375

This used to be the quickest way even to check other Phone Line Problems. Looks like they have changed it a bit though. Have tried this one as well a couple of times in the last few days and keep getting the " We are experiencing Technical Difficulties - Good Bye" . This is after going through the crap Voice Prompt System and then the Elevator Music on Hold for around 15 minutes.

What's up with the guy that does the Voice Prompts? He sounds as if he is talking to retards.
 
I would suggest that you sort out your uplink line attenuation, because 56dB line attenuation is quite bad!
