The above is a tracert I did on a dynamic dns connected directly to my marconi router. Could someone please explain to me what is going on here?
The first hope is to my internal linux firewall / proxy
The second hop is my router
The third hop is to my dynamic dns (dyndns.org) BUT why the heck is that not the same as my second hop, the routers public IP. Am I right in saying the third hop's ip is provided by the router? Is this anything to do with NAT? Is this router setup in bridge mode? I connect via PPPoE on the linux server or via RASPPPoE on XP, and I can connect via PPPoE on IP Cop. Im trying to setup a VPN but my dynamic ip is not updating automatically.
