please help a noob to the ADSL scene.

wanna get ADSL at home.

am i being a blithering idiot or what ?



is the price for the 4mb line Line rental: R166.50 + ADSL rental: R 299.00 ? so that = R 465.50 ???????

You are spot on.

However, good ol' Mr Telkom loves charging people line installation fees (~R700) and somewhere north of R1000 if ADSL. To circumvent this, I recommend getting a Telkom Weekend Plan 1 (~R187 a month) and they install the analog line for free. When this is done, you go back and ask for self install ADSL. (Quick save, more expensive in the long run as you can deduce)

Part 1 is quick. Part 2 is subject to the port availability on your exchange.

Or get the Simple package if it's still available. They give free install, free router and a 3G stick with 200MB for 12 months. The simple plus gives you a 4 Mbps line and 20GB data for R500.

And you can get it on month to month, no contract needed. Just make sure you don't sign any contract.
