ADSL router for 20-30 devices

My fiancé's company has an el cheapo Tenda router at the moment which seems to be acting up when lots of wireless devices connect (No idea what the number is, probably 15 or so). They insist on having the whole office running wirelessly.

Would having a beefier dual band unit help with this disconnection issue? All it will be used for is basic email and print jobs.

Can anybody recommend a decent unit for the job?

I have looked at the Buffalo WZR-D1800H from Miro and the Netgear D6200-100PES which both seem able to do the job but I dont know too much about routers and don't want to recommend a 2.5k unit which ends up doing nothing for them.
 
The dual band isn't going to help with anything else but future proofing unless you have 5GHz capable clients.

If you can, split the load, run multiple AP's. Get two Ubiquiti UniFi's from Miro, will cost you less than 2.5k for both, install a distance apart with the same SSID on different channels, adjust power output levels accordingly and forget about them.

EDIT: Disable the wireless on the current Tenda device as well.

They have a 4meg line.

Can add the unifi's, no problem, but the office is only about 20m x 20m, how would you then go about dividing the client's between the AP's?

Would a simultaneous dual band router not allow for more client connections due to a beefier CPU and higher throughput on both bands?

What do you mean by acting up?

More likely is that the users are sucking the life out of your bandwidth
 
I'm taking "whole office wireless" quite literally and going with PC's, laptops, smartphones, tablets, wireless inkjet MFP's, etc. In this sort of scenario, having 20 to 30 client connections to a single 802.11n AP might result in less than stellar results (especially if all devices aren't 802.11n... if you have any older bits of kit that use 802.11g still then a single AP is definitely not a great idea).

Since your office space is quite small, stick each UniFi on a separate SSID then, call one wireless network "Office1" and the second "Office2" (or similar)... join half the clients to the one network and half to the other?

I should have clarified, users get disconnected from the wireless network when too many devices are connected im told.

Happens to different devices at different times and is rectified by disconnecting another device or cyxling the power on the router.

check the dchp ip range of the router, im guessing you are trying to connect more devices then the range you have set?

I see it frequently at client's offices: Depleted_DHCP-POOL Range. Just set a wider range to avoid IP_Conflicts etc.. Look at the high-end Buffalo gear, they quite good and some custom DD-WRT firmware.

Can't go wrong ... ;)
