Look at the TP-Link AC1750 Archer D7 from Uniterm Direct. http://www.dbg.co.za/product_info.php?products_id=988

After MyBB discount it comes to just over R2K all inclusive. Got mine last week and it is an awesome piece of kit.

alas im not really a techno person so all i checked whilst surfing for new modem/router was which was value for money and current
so unsure what AC clients is

AC is the new wireless standard after N. For end users it pretty much means alot more speed over WiFi which is nice since you can then eliminate cables if you transfer alot of data.
The Router AP and connecting wireless devices both needs to support AC to benefit but the kit is not cheap.

N maximum 300mb
AC maximum 1900mb

So as long as my connecting devices ie laptop,tablet ,phone support AC it's worthwhile
