ADSL router in Bridge Mode

I am looking for an ADSL router which is easy to setup in bridge mode.

I had a Chronos and Telkom Marconi router which were very easy to setup in bridge mode. You would simply go into the WAN configuration and change the mode to from PPPoE to bridge mode.

I got a Mecer router the other day and could not get the thing to work in Bridge mode. I went into thed WAN configuration and change the mode from PPPoE to Bridge. But did not work. I then phoned Mecer's tech department. They talked me through on setting the router up in bridge mode, but still no luck. I thought there was something wrong with either my mail server or line. Then I plugged in a really old Marconi Telkom router. Set it up in bridge mode in 1 min, and everything was working.

So what I am asking is what the the best and easiest router you guys have found for setting up in bridge mode. I don't want to fork out some extra cash to find that the router is an absolute mission to get into Bridge mode

Just make sure that you set the VPI/VCI to 8/35 respectively.

Just avoid Netgear modems, because some of them (like the DGN 2200) doesn't even have bridge mode.

The D-Link modems support PPPoE, half-bridge and bridge mode and they're usually fairly easy to setup, or you can get reasonable support here.

Doublecheck that, I have a netgear DGN 2200, and it does support bridge mode ( calls it PPPoE Relay mode ) - It can dial a connection as well as be in relay mode at the same time, first router I've owned that has that function.

So you're saying that ALL the other members on myBroadband are noobs? Some of them even contacted Netgear support and they said that the router doesn't have bridge mode.

This would be great news if its PPPoE relaying works on the DGN 2200! I know that the DGN 2000 has bridge mode, but you won't find the setting on the webpage by clicking on the links.

All the D-Link modems have the PPPoE Passthrough option too, and if it's missing then you just need to update the firmware.

The DGN2200 does not support bridge mode. I got confirmation from Netgear. The easiest and cheapest modem that supports bridge mode I've come across, is TP-Link. I have an TD-W8950ND and it is the best one I've used.

I've just gone through the DGN 2200 manual and according to its specifications it does support RFC 1483 Bridged mode, but it doesn't mention how to configure it and PPPoE Relaying/Passthrough isn't mentioned anywhere in the manual either.

Perhaps bullzeye.za was referring to the DGN 2000?

I was about to ask about Netgear's bridged mode on the forums, thanks for telling me it's called PPPoE Relay haha.

I still remember having trouble getting my Surecom router to work in half-bridged mode, figured it out by complete accident yesterday.
