thanks

thanks xarog

that looks like exactly what i need tho the bipac 7402 seems a better option i cliecked on the diagram on the webpage but it cant open so if possible can you tell me if it is a 4 port router firewall modem cos i also have a office network so maybe that will be a better buy and also is it possible to purchase it in durban

thanks

They should both be 4 ethernet port router modems. I know the 7402 has a firewall, but I'm not sure about the 5102.

The 7402 is targeted at the office environment, and has lots of advanced features. It is a 4 port wired router (no wireless), with firewall (NAT , SPI and many DoS attack prevention features), URL & packet filtering, advanced VPN and QoS features. There is a broken link for the 7402 datasheet on www.billionsa.com. Goto www.billion.com.tw, which has a lot more info (datasheets, manuals and firmware updates).

The 5102 looks pretty much entry level, and while better than similar competitive products, doesn't have any of the advanced features. Have a look at the 7202GR2. it is quite a bit cheaper than the 7402, and not that much more than the 5102. The 7202GR2 is also a 4 port wired router, and includes 802.11g wireless. It has almost all the advanced features of the 7404, and seems to only lack some of the very advanced VPN features, which you may not need. You know your requirements, so compare the datasheets.

thanks for the link jas

just 1 last question tho, i also have a small business and was wondering if i had to purchase tje billion 7402r2 adsl firewall router modem would i also be able to use the voip in the future? if it is possible then i dont mind investing in the 7402r2

thanks for you advice

I don't know if the 7402R2 has any advantages over the 7202GR2 when it comes to VoIP (both have QoS). If you look on the websites, you will see that there are dedicated models for VoIP. Best give Billion SA technical support a call tomorrow and ask their advice. Please report back to the forum so that we can all learn more about VoIP.
