I have a Windows 2000 Domain Controler (Server) with 2 x NIC. The server runs DNS, DHCP, Capesoft E-Mail server, CCPROXY. The 1st Nic is my intranet with a IP Range of 10.0.0.1 to 10.0.0.100 and the 2nd Nic is conected to the TELKOM 4 port Router. The probleme that i have is that the internet works fine if i disable my 1st NIC. As soon as i enable it then i dont have any INTERNET conection.

I can ping the Router on 192.0.0.100 but nothing outside that. The 2nd NIC's IP is 192.0.0.1 with Subnet 255.255.255.0 Gateway 192.0.0.100 and DNS 196.43.1.11.

Please help me get it working

This depends on how you choose to run your ADSL.

a) If you are establishing the Broadband connection from the PC, None of your NIC's should have a gateway set.
When the PPPoE Session comes up, it'll set the gateway for you.

b) If your router is connecting for you, only your 2nd NIC should have a gateway set (towards your ADSL Router). Remove the gateway setting on your internal NIC.

Hi Daffy,

I have used option b) and it works fine for now. Thanks a million…………… :D

I will keep an eye on it and come back if there are any problems. Please tap yourself on the shoulder because.................

“What would guys like me do without your help?”

Thanx again!

Daffy,

Could you please explain the reason why it works when you remove the gateway setting on your internal NIC.

Thanks,

Elime
