Hi!

I've been having some problems with my internet connection lately. I'm using the Telkom ADSL 5102G Router and very recently updated the firmware to Version: "5120G_Telkom_2.7.0.13(ZUE0_B1)3.3.2.5_ras".

A day or two after updating the firmware (friday, 16 feb), my connection has been giving me a lot of grief.

Some web pages do not load.
Navigation panels in the router HTTP interface are gone. (Can't change any router settings now).
Very very slow downloads. (3kb/sec)
Can't ping www.yahoo.com anymore.

I checked with the ISP, but apparently all seems fine on their side.
It's also not a setting on my computer, because I have a laptop running off the wireless that also gives the same problems and also uses different firewall/AV software.

Can anyone give me advice on this problem? I was thinking of finding a way to roll back firmware versions. Is this possible?

Regards

After updating the firmware, did you press and hold the "Reset" button on the back of the router? If not, do that, setup your router with the correct ISP settings and everything should be fine again.

PS. Remember to always reset the router after a firmware upgrade - all manufacturers of routers recommend that users do this.

Nope, still the slow connection.

It did however sort out the HTTP interface problem, but some sites still don't load. It must be a ISP related problem then, because I can access local sites, but not international ones. (but according to them, I'm not capped yet).

Anyway, thanks for the help. I'll see what happens when I get back from Pretoria in 2 weeks time.

Regards

0. What isp/network provider if you know.. Saix or IS

1. open cmd and type nslookup.
2. take note of the dns ip/server used.
3. type 'www.yahoo.com' check if it resolves the ip

or just ping that url and see if it resolves.. if not then its a dns issue so change you dns settings on the lan card.. for saix www.saix.net has a list. could be yout pc is set to get automatically from router which is not always a good thing, I prefer having my fall over list of 10+ dns servers on the lan card.

It restarted automatically, but I’ll give it another shot.
I don't mean restart - I mean reset. On the back of your router there is a little hole labelled reset. Push a toothpick or something similar in there (you will feel a button being depressed). Then see if things start working. Just remember, after doing this you'll have to set your ISP settings on the router again (ie. user name and password).
