Hi guys, I was wondering if it is possible to configure a adsl router so that it's a router and a bridge? What i meen is: I want to be able to make PPPoE connections from my pc using dialup, as well as use the default routing option, when you connect through your router by getting the gateway of using DHCP. Does anyone know if this is possible? I have a Billion telkom router...

Yip ;) look in your router interface, enable half bridge>or bridge interface.

You then connect with your router, and you create pppoe connections as well ;)

Thanks for the reply. Yes my router does have a half-bridge mode option, and it's currently disabled. Are you sure by enabling half-bridge that it will solve my problem? I enabled it last night and the router crashed

Yip ;) It shouldn't crash, what do you mean it crashed?

Sorry for the double post: But must the router be in Bridge mode, as well as Half-Bridge? Obviously it's currently in router mode, while bridge and half-bridge is disabled. The Encapsulation is currently on PPPoE LLC

No, it should be on PPPoE llc and half bridge, not bridge ;)

Set the the Encapsulation to PPPoE LLC and then just click on the half-bridge option. Your router will be in "routing" and "bridge" mode at the same time.

Edit: Also what F/W version do you have?

Here is my router information:

System Status
Device Info
Firmware Version: CX82xxx_4.1.0.19_IB340a
Customer Software Version: 4.1.0.19_CoIB340a

Is it a 5100?

Edit: Can you give us a model number?

"... will give it another go though. the firmware version of the billion is CX82xxx_4.1.0.19_IB340a"
