So what's the preferred solution for the above, within reasonable budgets?

I have an 8ta 10gb sim and afrihost 10mb uncapped, some telkom techie just tripped over something in the exchange and my line is dead.

Is there a device that can do both? And for first prize, only allow certain internal IPs out if 3G is active? (my sick beard will kill 8ta cap in one night...)

Phoned TP-Link, they reckon for adsl you would need a specfic adsl router, but then you can connect the adsl router to the wirless 3G router via lan cable to the wan port.

I bought the Billion 810VGTX from my local Telkom Direct shop. It supports ADSL, VOIP and 3G failover. Can't remember how much it cost though.

Hi There,
You can also look at Netgear. The DGN300M will do what you want.
Sorry I don't have pricing. Craigfza's suggestion is also good.
If it is the first wireless router you have set up please make sure you put the right security round it.
Check here for some tips

Are there specific 3G dongles supported? I have a Vodafone R201 with a USB cable, would that work plugged into one of these adsl routers?

Not sure. I do know the latest Telkom branded routers just got a firmware update to support more dongles.

I also have a R201, and tried to use it on my Billion. Didn't work. The R201 is essentially a router itself, so trying to use it as a 3G modem probably is the reason it didn't work on my Billion.

More likely a driver issue, but thanks for the confirmation.

What does a decent 3G stick cost?

Not sure if this is what u need but check out www.zones.co.za. They have a Huawei wireless ADSL router with 3G failover for R399. Not sure where you're from but they only have stores in and around Durban. Contact them for more info.

Yeah I spotted that - thanks Yay :)

peeryus: Not really looking for wireless to be honest, as I already have an AP set up at home and my phone line is not in the optimal spot for a wireless AP anyway.
