Hi Guys/Gals,

I need some advice/help please. I need to purchase a new wireless DSL router for my home office but I cannot find one with all my requirements.

I basically need a wireless ADSL router which can also function as a USB print server. I cannot seem to find one. Any ideas where I can look.

Thanks

Hey Comet :)

Personally, I would keep those devices separate in case of failure. By having it all-in-one you now have a single point of failure; if the print server, Access Point or ADSL part dies you are in for a new unit.

At home, I have a separate ADSL router and separate AP/switch. So if my router gets knocked out by lightning (i do have surge protectors but they are not 100%), i still have a functioning network just no internet. And the router is less than R300 to replace (single port D-Link), compared to over R1k for a all-in-one guy.

Most printers these days, esp for SOHO (one up from consumer class), come with a Network Interface Card. Just plug her into your switch and BOOM, she's available to the rest of the hosts in your network (wired or wireless) :)

Of course, this is your network :) You are free to do what you want :) This is just my 5c

Peace! :D

Thanks NowNow, I will definitely consider that.

Thanks Kgatlem, this is exactly what I’m looking for I just need to find a supplier in SA

Thanks again for the help guys

Hi Comet
Just got myself a DSL2750U yesterday after suffering a direct lightening strike to the phone line which destroyed my ADSL router and network switch. Have not set up the printer server yet but found the following link that may help if you do decide to go for the D-Link.

The router is going from R530 to R675 on the net.
