I ordered an ADSL account and the telkom operator called me to ask if I would like to perform the self install option, which will speed things up, and instead of having to pay R404 for a telkom technician to come out to my site. N e way, on thursday morning I received a call from telkom to say that I can go ahead with the self installation. So I followed the instruction on the page and when I get to the part where i must verify the adsl connection, then this is where the trouble starts.
1. Telkom says connect to www.telkom.co.za/verifyadsl- which i get to fine.
2. Then i must enter my order number and telphone number and click verify
3. The first time i did it, it said that verification failed
4. Then I re-entered the information and it says that the line has been verified already
5. I phone the oh-so-helpfull tech support and the idoit didn't even know about the self installation problem.
Any way I called them again and spoke to some different and he couldn't help me either. He finally went to go and ask someone in the other building and they came to the conclusion that it must be something worng at the exchange.
Now the reason I am asking this is 2 fold
1- I get an IP address for the dsl connection- so it is communicating somehow
2- I have a Dlink-300t and the status light keeps flashing, can it be that there is something wrong with the modem, I checked the manual and all it says there that if something is wrong then reboot the modem, which obviously didn't work.
Has n e 1 experienced these problems, before i go out and buy another modem.
