ADSL service provider

I am planning on getting an ADSL connection and was hoping for some info from you guys.

Who do you use as a service provider or who would you recommend i.e. Telkom themselves or Tiscali, MWeb etc.

All ADSL is supplied by Telkom at the moment, so the ISPs just resell. If you use Telkom, the advantage is that you get a single bill every month. There are cheaper alternatives though, www.Hellkom.co.za has a list of lower priced ISPs.

Not with ADSL. I'm using TelkomInternet, like it's been said in other threads, it's easier having it all on one bill. I haven't had any problems with them whatsoever.

I like to think im getting my broadband straight from the source TelkomDSL for me.

I'm with Blackdot, very happy with their service. Getting 2 separate bills doesn't really count as a biggy in my books

Telkom = source of ADSL, so I don't see any point going anywhere else unless the ISP charges are seriously lower - R50 cheaper or more.

According to thier site :-

The Internet access portion for ADSL access is charged separately from the Telkom charges for your ADSL line. This fee is payable to your ISP and costs R 270.00ex vat per month.

R307.80 a month ? - that can't be right ? - that's the most expensive ADSL ISP out there !

Cheaper the base price for an ISP, the more they nail you for extra accounts to get over the 3Gb capping.
so it matters very little which one you choose.

it would be wise though to choose an ISP who uses SAIX bandwidth cos Telkom owns it, makes the access marginally quicker.

No matter what ISP you choose for ADSL, you use SAIX, 'cos it is merely a resold Telkom product.

That might be so, but at least when I have need to phone the help desk I get someone on the other side who knows what they are talking about and not some script reading puppet.
