ADSL Setup

Hi Guys,

New to this forum, but always come here for advise, I have ordered ADSL through Telkom got my line, and subscribed to MWEB uncapped, got my details, but now I have to wait for 5 working days before they deliver my ADSL router.

Now my question to you all is, is it possible to connect to ADSL through my built in modem on my laptop, or is a router simply a pre-requisite?

You will still need a router. The modem in your notebook is a analogue 56k modem and not for ADSL. You can however use this modem to connect, but at 56k and it will cost you a phone call for as long as you are connected. My advise is rather wait for you router or purchase one from a retailer.
