Why? Its easy enough that anyone can do it. Would help to have a friend on the phone who has done it before though.

Hi HavocXphere

It's a bit confusing for me as I have a seperate router access point and gigibit hub........I have managed to get the wired part working ok.
The wireless side works if i do a ppp dialup connection.
I have 2 accounts 1) mweb uncapped and 2) Webafrica account.
What I would like is to be able to use on of the accounts directly and the other with a dialup.
Many Thanks
Johnathan

Let me get this straight:
So the devices connected via wire have internet access using the login details in the router. And the Wireless device can connect to the router, but not the internet without a ppp dialup?

If thats so then the settings on the laptop/whatever that is connecting wirelessly is wrong. This will depend on the operating system in use. The settings likely to be the cause are "gateway" and "DNS server". You'll find these in the control panel -> Network -> Wireless LAN adapter (details depend on operating system). Set the gateway to the routers address (depends on the router, but 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.1.1 are good bets). Set the primary DNS to the router address and the secondary to 8.8.8.8.

Thanks for the reply
HavocXphere the wired part is connected in half bridge mode (I have a direct connection as well as being able to use my second account)
This all works well.
The laptop can do a dialup and connect to the internet. This also works.
But I am not able to use the kindle or any of the smartphones on the network.
The smartphone connects ok to the wireless access point but is not able to browse the web etc.
To connect to the wireless access point i use 192.168.2.1 but this is not responding anymore.
The dlink adsl modem uses 192.168.1.1 which allows me to configere the modem.

I have the pc's configured with static ip's in the 192.168.2.xxx

I suspect its a dns problem but not sure how to solve this.

Many thanks

Johnathan

Put the devices in the same block. i.e. Use 192.168.1.* for everything. Then check the settings on the smartphones.

HavocXphere

How do I do this ...

Must I do the change on the ap or the router.
