ADSL Slow since I tested another router

A buddy wanted to test his netgear router as it was giving trouble, so i let him test it on my line SAOL R499 uncapped, afterwords I tried to connect my router d-link 2500u and started downloading from rapidshare as usual, but it now only donwloads at 25k and jumps sporadically where it used to download at 37k constant stream?

Can a faulty router damage the line etc?

Probably a fluke. Might be that the DSLAMS dynamically adapt to the router, but I doubt it.

Get Telkom to reset the line

Can you phone telkom to reset the line 24/7 or do I have to wait until the morning?

Phone them now - not sure if they are 24x7 but I've phoned at 10pm before and got hold of someone.

Well contacted telkom adsl and they reset the ports and checked exchange etc.

But the speed is stil the same from SAOL, are they now throttling me as I download a lot?
