Hi guys

Is your ADSL Line speed the only contributing factor to download speeds or is it also the DATA provider??

Let's say I have the following;

4mbps uncapped - Telkom - let's say my download speeds are terrible so i change my data provider over to FNB Connect.

Is it possible to achieve higher download speeds now that i've changed the data provider??

There are many factors that contributes to your ADSL being slow, most common are noise, ISP and congestion on the exchange itself.

So if you're experiencing high pings locally, it m ay be congestion at the exchange. If you're experiencing slow downloads (usually international), it may be your ISP (data provider) etc

What I think it may be is your line noise/sync problem. That *is* the most common issue experienced by people, Telkom isn't an ISP that will just flail around crying foul and/or doesn't have enough bandwidth. Chances are very good it's something physical to your line or exchange

Correct but keep in mind, ADSL consists of three parts.
1) Voice line rental
2) ADSL Line/Access
3) Data or ISP Account

Voice line does not affect your speed. 2 & 3 does however. You will get the lowest speed between the two. Eg:
ADSL Line/Access is 4Mbps and you use an Mweb 2Mbps ISP account, you will get 2Mbps speed. And visa versa.

Try a test account from an ISP, Mweb has them: Click Here

Also go to:
