Hi all

Does anyone know at what is the max speed the "new" 8Mbps ADSL lines should sync at? 512kbps or 1024kbps?

-8Mbps/????kbps

I know the "old" packages were as follows:

- 2Mbps/ 512kbps
- 4Mbps/ 512kbps
-10Mbps/1024kbps

Thanks in advance.

My 6Mb connection connects at 1019Kbps upstream, so yours should be similar. . .

Love the conflicting reports above.

If you're syncing at ADSLL2+ you should have 1Mbps upload.

I had my line upgraded to 10Mb, but according to my router I'm connected at:
Bandwidth (Up/Down):960kbps/ 8128kbps

Connection stats.....
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12,6 / 18,2
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 11,5 / 17,5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 7,0 / 12,8

Should I leave it on 10Mb or consider dropping to 8Mb?
Seeming as I'm connected at 8128kbps (just below the max for 8Mb (8192kbps) should I get Telkom to triple confirm I've been set to 10Mb and not 8Mb?
I dont feel like paying for a 10Mb when 8Mb is the most I can get..
ta.

Can you force your modem to sync with ADSL2+ instead of G.dmt?

I had Telkom perform a port reset and I now get the full 10240 down and 1024 up.
No need to flash my good 'ol MWEB modem just yet then :)

8Mb Line with Axxess

Don't think you get 1Mb upload on a 8Mb line, only if you have 10Mb line

Syncs higher due to interleave, used to be 640 up when I was still on fastpath

Line Status:Connected
DSL Modulation Type: ADSL_2plus
Annex Type: Annex A/L
Upstream Downstream
Current Rate(kbps) 766 10237
Max Rate(kbps) 1193 26172
SNR Margin(dB) 17.8 19.1
Line Attenuation(dB) 5.3 8.5
Errors(pkts) 0 0

it's doesnt look like it.
I have an MWEB FON TG589vn v3 router and it seems they locked down most of settings you can change.
I believe you can flash the router. http://devrandom.za.net/blog/2014/02/16/unlocking-a-tg589vn-v3-vdsl-isp-locked-router/ but I'm not sure I want to do that.
I dont have access to another modem at the moment to test :(

Flashed our old MWEB FON Router..

Product Name: TG589vn v3

Even if you override the modulation type on your modem it usually won't make a difference because this is specified for your profile at Telkom's side. Don't waste your time flashing firmwares for this ...

G.dmt, interleave

If you're syncing at ADSLL2+ you should have 1Mbps upload.

Doesn't G.dmt have a theoretical maximum of 1Mbps upload? Why is this only possible on ADSL2+?
