ADSL Sync

I am using a Netgear DG814 ADSL router for my ADSL connection. The unit is being used around the world. I recently loss connection (My router would not sync). I then took my router in to the suppliers and they put it on their adsl line and the router synced within 1 min. I then returned to my office and logged a call with Telkom. They came out and tested the line with one of their own adsl modem, and it worked first time. This left me with a problem, the unit works but not on my line, I finally confinced telkom to change my port at the DSLAM. The moment they changed it, my router synced and I could get back to normal operation. I asked Telkom what the problem might be, but they could not answer me. They are going to look into the problem (like they really will).

So if you can not sync get your port changed at the DSLAM

I had the same problem but they didn't want to change the port and I had to buy a Telkom Modem!!

Do you have any reference or anybody I can speak to?

WEll I have a telkom modem, and it took them 2 months to figure out that the modem wasnt syncing, they kept in sending diferent ppl each time, and each time they thought it was the firmware hanging problem so they kept replacing and upgrading the modem. Eventualy they figured out that it wasnt the line or the modem, so they had to change the port TWICE before it worked. Now it works like a charm. Telkom realy needs to sort out the way faults are handled.
