Just thought I would have a moan. I am in my 4th week of waiting for my ADSL from Webafrica. During that time Vodacom have made so much money from me. After 4 weeks what options do I have to speed things up because I can't wait any longer!!?

I had the same problem but with mweb, only after posting something on hello peter did they actually get back to me and inform me of whats happening. Apparently I have a "shared line" so I can't get adsl. Your best option is to get the line rental directly from telkom I think. Thats what i'll be doing.

It probably depend on where you live, because in Newcastle I waited seven days to be activated. After the first call, I waited a bit then call back to confirm that the previous person actually did what I asked (with a side story to make it less obvious).

Just a recommendation - It's probably better to order your line directly from Telkom, then transfer/migrate to an ISP (?). There must be ways to make things happen faster, so here is a few suggestions. It's all in the way you speak to support staff. They speak to you like you're an airhead and you speak to them like they actually know everything.
Say something like: "Thank god I got through to you"...pause for a response like "Why" then "the last person I spoke to had no idea what I was talking about"..."what was that about sir"..."well you know my Adsl line...".
I always insist on an ETA, which usually is just that an estimate, but it give me something to take up with the next drone. Also look for Telkom employees in your area while you're out and about. They might be able to tell you how long you'll have to wait and even speed it up (give them your best Colgate smile).

I always manage to fake respect quite well (if I have to say so myself). All forms of discretion go out the door with cold callers however (just to keep it balanced). I'm sure they know all the RSG presenters by now while they hold - next to a hifi speaker - for the owner of my phone.:D
