ADSL telkom router probs

Hi,

I have a telkom dsl POTS router, obviously marconi, now I have this problem since a while, that it "hangs" from time to time. The lights for LAN and DSL traffic which are usually flashing stay on all the time and the router doesnt answer any more.
Only way to get it back on : switch off on !

Now i wonder if a new firmware would solve that problem, since the firmware seems to be quite old.
Anybody experience with that ?
I read somewhere else that the new firmware takes off functionality of the router ????

We use the Telkom POTS as well here at work, and we have the exact same problem. I asked the question in the IRC channel the other day, one oke suggested overheating might be causing the erratic hangs.

Definitely not overheating.......We running servers/routers in very cold server room...

Actually, we started using our POTS as a router (not pppoe), and the problem started. I now can replicate the problem connecting to irc and disconnecting......HANGS!!

Every time!! Everything else worx fine, just irc causing the router to hang.......
