I am about to move to Observatory Jhb. with iBurst on Building.
But, now I have reviewed the iBurst history, Low Sppeds, Latancy and high Hardware Costs with equipement that seems outdated ! Why should I move from Telkom 4Mbps 500 upload ADSL for 1Mbps.

Can iBurst give me a business case, or is it a dying service. ??

iBurst's ADSL is more expensive and not very reliable and their wireless reliability is non-existent (1 minute, you're downloading at max speed, the very next minute onwards you're experiencing really low speeds and high latency in all internet tasks you do). Really not impressed.

Opinions will vary, depending on what you want to use iBurst for. The 2MB modem option is not bad although signal quality and frame error rates are rather important in determining if it will be usable.

I myself have had issues with iBurst in the past however in my opinion I still prefer the wireless over any Telkom service.

I would stay with ADSL. I'm also thinking of going that route very soon if Iburst don't get their stuff together.. Last night and today Iburst has been very slow. I'm downloading at speeds of 9KB/s - 15KB/s, not to mention the browsing. And it's not just today it's been like this for some time now. Some days you get decent speeds but then other days it's horrid. I even downgraded my account from the MAX25 to the PRO10. Not worth paying that much money for a service you can't always use.. I was even considering buying the 2mb modem but the price on that is just too high IMO.

I was very happy with Iburst when I joined them a few years ago. Always use to get speeds of around 100kb/s. The speed decreased a lot over the years.. I occasionally use my CellC modem and wow, if Iburst can give me those kinda speeds or even half of that, I'll be a very happy camper.

I only use iBurst as a backup. If my DSL line goes down, and it happens occasionally, I can still use 2GB of iBurst access. It happens rarely but it's there.

iBurst is not really so bad, if you're in a non congested area. If all you need is 1Mbit, you will avoid paying TELKOM their voice and line rental fees. Plus it's portable. So you can take it with you.

You should not even have thought about burst.
