Hi all

My line went down today, phone, adsl everything was dead.

I phoned telkom and a techi got it sorted for me but now every 5min the DSL light on the router goes off and starts flashing like its trying to reconnect. It manages to connect but only for 5min or so then the whole process starts again.

I just wana know what i call this problem? Is it a sync problem? Just wana know for when i phone telkom tomorrow, chances are they wont know whats going on so i was hoping i could atleast tell them whats going on so they could fix it sooner.

Any help would be great

Look in your routers log to see what's going on, it will tell you if it's losing sync.

Why wait until tomorrow? Call them now on 10215 or 0800 375 375.

Explain that you had a complete outage which was 'kinda' rectified but now you have this new problem with synching (or whatever the log report says).

same thing happend to me for a month wen i was on holiday
called techie half fixed then got bitten by dogs
called again its been fine
they said line fault 57m away

To explain...

If your DSL light goes down and comes on again it means you are losing sync with the exchange...

If your Internet light goes down it is an ISP problem...

K well its seems to be fine today...

Guess ill just wait and see if it goes again

if you have a 4Mbps connection, then its possible that your signal quality is too poor to have a stable connection at 4Mbps. 2Mbps should work without problems then.
