ADSL upgrade from 384 to 512

I requested this upgrade and Telkom says it was done already.
Is there any way I can TEST if the change has been done (besides checking the bill)? Browsing or downlading files does not give me a visible difference.

yep thats the best test to see if the line has been upgraded.
 
I doubt it will give you a visible difference. In speed, 384 is about 7 or 10 kilobytes per second slower than 512. If you downloaded at 38, you'll be downloading at 50.

If you want to see an improvement upgrade to 1mbps ;) :p :D
 
which is actually an upgrade to 4mbps... more than 10x faster than the 384 line
 
What is the point with a cap.If I was back home I would be on 384, im upgrading to 24mb end of month but wouldnt if it had a stupid cap on it.
 
BeThere £24 a month no cap.Im with Entanet at the moment:8mb £24.99 and have a 330gig cap but if I go over my cap and download 1tb it just costs me a extra £10.
 
Eish... we can all dream though. Still I wouldn't trade my lovely sun for a 100mb line

There is no point dude ;) This is South Africa, we are being taken advantage of and being wedgie'd like you can't believe. We have one company that sells bandwidth (telkom), so they make the rules.

The board that needs to check that everything is 100 is called ICASA, but I bet telscum pays them to keep them at bay ;) :p
 
Ya I miss the sun back home in Cape Town, Pissed me off everday though having to put up with telkom and their prices.

Was down there for a month in December, damn it was good hot weather and cold beer :p

Preferably, I think it's faster that way, but don't go up to 512, go to 1mbps then it is automatically upgraded to the closest speed of 4 mbps, at no extra charge ;) :p

I have a Linksys router, as far as I can see I still have only 384, I'm I right?
