ADSL upgrade to VDSL issue

I recently upgraded from 10MB ADSL line to 20MB VDSL line, but my line sync at 18MB at the moment and my DSL Modulation is still ADSL2PLUS, so basically I have a "20MB ADSL" line and not a 20MB VDSL line.

I called Afrihost a few times now to request a change in Modulation from MultiMode to VDSL2 as the MultiMode defaults to ADSL2PLUS. The Modulation on my router under Administration/DSL Settings is set to VDSL2 and not Auto.

I have a ASUS DSL-N17U router and I do have a VDSL filter on the line (I actually used that same filter when I had ADSL 10MB line and my line sync'ed at 12MB)
I live +-200M from the nearest Telkom Exchange so I am supposed to get full 20MB, not 18MB.

I changed my WAN option from ADSL to VDSL but I don't seem to have internet when I change it to VDSL, but I do have internet access when I change back to ADSL WAN.

Anyone else who upgraded had this issue?

You need Afrihost or Telkom (whoever manages your line) to log a call with Telkom (Afrihost do this every Monday -> make sure that you escalate to critical care as not every support agent knows how to do this). You need them to change your modulation type from ATM to PTM. Then you need to set your router up for VDSL (obviously have a VDSL capable router) and once the modulation change is complete you should lose synchronization on ADSL2+. You then know that it's time to restart your router and use the VDSL over PTM profile.

It is difficult to get this right so go straight to an engineer who understands ATM vs PTM. Took me about 4 weeks to find someone, but then was sorted same day.

Thanks for all the feedback, @AfriFella assisted me with getting my modulation change. Now I have to wait till I get home to update my router settings to VDSL.

Just a quick update, Telkom changed my modulation to VDSL and the 20MB line is great, according to my Router's Max Rate I can get up to 110MB down speed on the VDSL, and 8MB up speed.

When I was on a 10MB line I got a Sync speed of 12MB down and 1MB up.
My VDSL line synced at 22MB down and 5.5MB up, but 2 days ago it changed to 20MB down and 2MB up, I know Telkom upgraded the VDSL 20MB line's upload speed to 5MB but I only get max 2MB up...

I contacted Afrihost and they did port recreate, nothing changed, now they logged a line fault at Telkom, so now I am waiting for a Telkom techie to see what the issue is...
