I have Telkom adsl which costs me aboutR489 per month with 40gb softcap. They are advertising Lte 60 gb(20+20+20) at R329. Is it worth switching for higher speed?

Two questions, do you need more cap? do you need more speed?

When thinking about the LTE, best advice I got was to get a pre-paid sim card from the provider, and test the signal out at your home to see how strong it is - especially where you're planning on placing the router, otherwise you might end up having worse speeds, or no net

+1 for testing with a prepaid sim first.
You need to be sure that the signal in your area is decent enough and test in the evening 6-10pm.

The ping on wireless connections and latency will be a lot worse than a wired connection like ADSL. If you play online games you will definetly notice the degradation. ADSL is cheaper for larger data bundles as well.

Thanks you guys. We stay in an estate and they are thinking of putting in fibre using Openserve. Speed is not the issue but costs.

If they're doing openserve, I'd definitely consider telkom's unlimited fibre home option, free installation, free router, 4Mbps uncapped line for R605 - if you already have a telkom line, then it's less because line rental should be included

Hi what deal are u referring to exactly?im looking for a month to month adsl deal on telkom as I have a line installed in my aprtmnt bt its nt active yet. Telkoms websit is confusing.

Sorry while we are on this subject, if i switch to lte , can i keep my Telkomsa email add.? I whent to pur local Telkom store to arrange for a sim to test coverage and was told that their test router was not available and i must come back??!! While on the speed thinge ...the speed at the moment is almost nill. If i want to look a flick on showmax it keeps on cutting out. With lte will it be faster? I also asked about the problems with cancelling a contract and they confirmed that they have had verry unhappy customers. They say rather the devel you know as against the one you don't

Home unlimited 4meg adsl is R605 per month on a month to month including line rentals minus router. Depending on distance from exchange works fine for online gaming, streaming etc, whereas LTE can have greater speed but sporadic latency, fibre would get first prize.
