Ok let me see if I get my explanation right
Run a mini call centre with outbond and incoming calls. Have 4 voip phones. ISP is Telkom. Run 4 pc's on the network. All 4 pcs are linked to the internet for most of the day.
All worked relatively smoothly, a few months ago my ADSL line was upgraded to a 6 meg line. We then started having intermittent line issues. Internet would work for about 20 min and then drop, this would happen intermittently during the day.
After much to and fro'ing with Telkom the Telkom techie decided that my office in was too far away from the Fourways exchange +-4km, for a 6 meg line, and they then dropped me back to a 1meg line about a month ago. This seems to have sorted out the problem with the intermittent access.
However, in the last couple of days I have now started having problems with my VOIP phones. There is a delay in voice calls meaning if i speak the person on the other side hears my conversation 2 seconds later.
The VOIP techie now says that this problem is due to the 1 meg line being to slow to handle 4 VOIP phones and 4 pc's.
I have no clue as to what to do.
Checked with Telkom they say there are no speed issues in the Fourways exchange. But i have learnt enough by now to know that you never seem to get the correct info from the Telkom helpdesk.
Do I increase to a 4 or 6 meg line again?.
Are these guys giving me the correct info/solutions?
Are there any other solutions?
thanks
