Hi

To my knowledge after 50Gb it is throttled.

What i have done is get Telkom capped data on adsl and i am using the integrated sim in an LTE modem for my cameras, works well.

I am not sure where you are but signal in some areas is bad but mostly good..

I would stick with adsl and if possible go to 20Mbs - 40Mbs if possible, Just depends on what you are going to use it for?

The Telkom LTE uncapped gets throttled after 300GB to 4mbps. However depending on your coverage the speed could be awesome. They do have an option for somebody to come to your house for a demo thus you can do speed tests etc. For me I could only get 2mbps ADSL line and LTE was the only other viable option but in my area when I got it originally on a 100GB cap I was getting 70mbps then it dropped to 50mbps then to 30mbps now the max is 15mbps. And you are also then stuck in a crappy 2 year contract. I am on the uncapped for almost a year now. My friend is still getting 50mbps. I was able to play games, stream videos etc no problem. I have speed issues right now of 5mbps. I have logged a ticket to get it sorted. (Fibre soon...yeah)

If you do online gaming or latency-intensive applications then ADSL/Fibre is a must. Speed is however, usually better on LTE.

Thank you for the response. I have one question. If LTE speed is better than ADSL than why its not good for online gaming???

It is because LTE travels through the airwaves, where there is a lot of interference. A wired copper or fibre connection has no such issues.

In my experience LTE is actually working better for gaming than ADSL. Adsl is consistently lagging and having packet loss issues, whereas LTE is just performing better.

Thats strange. Perhaps the ADSL connection is experiencing issues related to the exchange/DSL account or it could be your copper line.
A fixed connection is always beter latency-wise compared to a wireless one.

You are right Shaun108 but don't you think that because of LTE speed, we can tackle the latency issue?

As per advertised every where, LTE is very advanced unlike other wireless service which drops the signals every now and than. As far as i read most of the places, LTE signals seems strong and it won't drop the signals easily So how the latency issue will be raise??

Hi

Where did you get that from was just on the telkom website?

Guys I have a breaking news... I just phone Telkom and they said LTE-A is not available in my area. So I have only one option now which is ADSL :(

Let's stick with that for now...

I have Telkom LTE Uncapped. Last year September they changed their FUP. We all received SMS stating what the changes were. Which was 300GB then throttle to 4mbps. It is somewhere in the FUP policy if I am not mistaken. We were all peeved with them because the original advertising was that they will never throttle streaming etc only Torrents etc. Now streaming etc forms part of 300GB.
