ADSL vs Wireless

I'm trying to do some cost and service comparisons and would welcome comments and input. It seems to me that a Telkom ADSL512 business service, 2GB shaped is about the cheapest option at close to R800 per month. Wireless connectivity is available at a very similar price. Assuming a user who is mainly interested in data transfer between branches by VPN, a bit of VOIP, email access and limited internet browsing, which would be the better service? Are there any issues with VOIP or VPN's on a shaped DSL connection?

well depends on how much data u want to use... 2 gigs is not alot... U can get an IS account with 30 gig local... only issues with VOIP will be if u want to voip internationally... (ADSL)

Be very careful if you go for wireless. There is a larger initial investment for the equipment vs. going the ADSL route and you need to make sure of the reputability of the company by people who are actually using the service (A good place to find out is definitely the MyADSL forums, search up any names of companies you are interested in).

I had a very bad experience with wireless internet. I have ADSL now with OpenWeb it's a lot better (more consitent, better speeds and pings).

ADSL = Reliable until something goes wrong, then about 2 days downtime then reliable for about 2 months again.
Wireless = Continuous problems and varying quality, bad latency.

VPN requires good latency. I recommend that you get ADSL instead of wireless.

wireless is more flexible and great if your on the move, take your work anywhere and everywhere with you. bad if you got loads of people sharing the wireless service. whatever speed you get, cut it in half ad that ill be the actual speed, and that a fact, problem with wireless are almost hardware compatibility related, investigate thoroughly before you purchase. once you got the right hardware setup is simple
