My socket has been disconnected from my wall, now i think that the problem is ONLY at the cables on the the socket, will Dial A Nerd (or someone else) be able to help, or will i have to wait for telkom to come? thanks

well can sort it out yourself. if it is just the wires. it is simple. dial a nerd will charge you a fortune in fixing it. can you post a picture of what you exactly mean?

First check with a Telkom techie if you can fix it. Not so sure what the law says now, but it use to be illegal to work on Telkom lines yourself. Best bet is to go into a Telkom store tomorrow. The retail stores tend to be more helpful.

Would help if you mentioned your area as Dial-A-Nerd is a franchise and there level of service varies. There only strong point it that they have a global knowledge base, kinda like a myBB portal. Use to know a Dial-A-Nerd and would never have allowed him near even Sackboys computer.

well it's just two wires. i think they mind less about what you do in your own home these days. it's not like you'll be doing a DIY patch into their pole or something. just so we're all clear, everything was working before the socket got pulled out right? you cant just plug a modem in to any line and expect it to sync

Your still working on their infrastructure so I'm sure they still care.

I've also done telco work inside my house many times... it's not as technically complex a thing to do as you might think (just a single copper pair to link up), and if you do it yourself you'll not only have something to be proud of, but save time and money. Wear gloves to be safe, though, because if someone happens to call you while you're holding the wire, ringing voltage is over 48V and can give a rather potent tickle :)

i had a telkom techie change my wall socket to the newer one's, luckily for me the techie came the same day
