Hi guys

My setup:

Win2k Server as domain controller, provides DNS to LAN, static IP's for PC's on LAN (10.0.0.10 - 10.0.0.40), server IP is 10.10.1.1 (default setting for Active directory).
Marconi POTS ADSL Ethernet Router connected to my LAN switch, configured with IP 10.0.0.233.
I can ping and access the router with IE, connection is live, but I cannot access the internet from client PC's. I have set all client PC's to use router IP address as default Gateway, and my Primary DNS server IP on clients is set to that of my Server, 10.10.1.1
The only way I can access the net from a client is if I configure it's Primary and Secondary DNS addresses as those provided by Telkom - works great but then the client PC cannot access the LAN.

Any advice? Telkom doesn't have a clue.

Thanks in advance!

Not sure I've understood you correctly, but it sounds to me like you only have a name resolution problem, since the clients can access the Net when they use Telkom's DNS.
So it seems to me that all you need to do is configure the Telkom DNS's as forwarding zones on your own DNS server. Therefore, if the client requests an address, which your own DNS won't recognise, it will "forward" the request to Telkom's DNS and send that back to the client.
Hope it helps.

Hi Dufrenchie
If i think about this, theoretically if u add a second network card onto your server and couple the router onto that one with the default gateway of router and DNS of ADSL on that ,then you might be able to specify on the client machines, the default gateway of the 1st network card of the server, with that ones default gateway pointing to the IP address of the 2nd network card(which points to the router).
Then on the client machines you should be able to use your internal DNS.
Hope i did not make it sound to complicated!!!
practically you will have to see if it works...let me know
