Is it me but my line now says it sync’s with “ADSL2_Plus” before I use to connect with “ADSL_G.lite” modulation.

The sync speeds changed as well, with “ADSL_G.lite”
I use to get 312 downlink and 98 uplink.
Now I get 381 downlink and 124 uplink.
:p

Yea, you should be getting 384k/128k as standard, not sure why it would say "ADSL2_Plus" as the speeds for adsl2+ are between 12mb-24mb dsl speeds. Dont know when we will get adsl2+ in SA though :/

I started this post because of line sync issues with my line and this was also due to ADSL2+ showing up in my Netgears connections settings, once you telnet into the the thing that is. Forced it to do the G.Lite things as I was having improper line sync. Although according to Telkom I am smoking something for saying ADSL2+, but I saw it like that on my router

I have the same router (Netgear 834GT) and am syncing at 4095 and 507. I am getting intermittent disconnects and then the router says :"LCP down LCP not allowed to come up." (or something like that). After a few minutes it reconnects but as you said I also game at night and it is extremely frustrating.

Did you have the same error and how do you telnet in the router to see the ADSL 2 and G DMT settings?

@OP: Sorry about thread derailment.

bokka1 I am taking this back to the original thread. Check there.

I also online game and that is hugely frustrating agreed. As you just scored enough point to choose a nice weapon for the next round you drop and ip changes and you are basically a new player on the server.

381/124 is hardly ADSL 2+ speeds...

I am talking about the DSLAM modulation at the exchange. For it show it is using ADSL2_Plus must mean that our exchange supports ADSL2_Plus. The speed has nothing to do with it. As these are just throttles on Telkom's side.

So when they go live with ADSL2 this should mean we can get it ASAP.....

Whats is happening at telkom? someone caught a wake up call?

Now if only they would reduce price :p

It's telkoms way of showing us that we are 1st world complaint, by offering their so called ADSL2+

Don't be fooled though, it's nothing compared to actual 1st world country standards.

The ADSL2+ has auto fallback feature so it will try to sync at 2+ and when it can't it will fallback to normal ADSL. The reason it's on 2+ is the router's firmware is by default configured for it so it works in countries that have 2+.

A place in Kazakhstan, with no paved roads has access to cable TV + high speed broadband. Retired folk use it. lol
