Pressing CTRL + SHIFT + LEFT CLICK on the Marconi logo in the "ADSL Control and Status" program in the control panel. This will bring up ADVANCE button which will give access to special modem settings.
Under the ADSL setting is displayed the Average transmit and receive rate in Kbps. This build in modem software function can be used to check current download rates.
As read somewhere on the internet : To determine the maximum download rate obtainable in KILOBYTES/second do the following.
512/8 - 13% = MAX KB/sec from TELKOM ADSL connection
The 13% compensate for network overhead.
Thus +- 56 KB/sec.
Anyone getting this or higher with TELKOM ADSL (512 Kbps) are truely blessed.
I get MAX 52 KB/sec.
