Hi.

My dad wants to get mobile data for his laptop, Living in pretoria and the eastern outskirts (down lynnwood road out of town).

Was wondering what is the best deals out there. I saw Cell C has 2 Gb for R120 plus a speedstick.

I see this is good deal, dont like the two year contract, but is Cell C internet reliable, or for that fact who is most reliable.

Thanks knowledge boffins

:D

I don't know about Cell C, but if I may make a suggestion. STAY AWAY FROM VODACOM. I regret the day I locked myself into a 24 month contract. Their contract sucks (roll-over limitations and using new data first) and their product sucks. It sometimes feels as if I cannot stay connected for more than 5 minutes, get stupid messages "no device", "no sim card" "no signal", all rubbish. Have already swopped out the modem and reloaded the software perhaps 18 times. Frustration is not the word.

Reliability means nothing if you don't have adequate reception in the first place. So check that there is at least 3G reception by the network you choose/prefer.

I've been using Cell C's 2gb x 12month prepaid package (as a backup connection at home, but more as my primary connection on the road) for the past two years. I still use the 7.2mb speed stick that came with the original bundle and tend to get speeds of around 2-4mb. Apart from a couple of issues when it first launched, it's been relatively smooth sailing. I mostly use it in the Willows/Lynnwood Ridge/Lombardy area.

Just bought a 24 gig bundle for R1299 (one year) from cellc .i have had this as my mobile for the last 2 years .
Like mentioned above a few hiccups but no major problems in 2 years ,same as above i am still using the original white modem that came with the original bundle 2 years ago ,getting about 1,8 meg on average.
