Hi

I recently started an online store, and I am looking for options on importing stock from China.
I have an importers code and a 30 day account with DHL, but the quotes I get from DHL to import is really expensive.
It is cheaper for my supplier to send using their courier, but I am also looking for other options.
Stock is about 50-100 units, total weight +-50kg, 1-2 boxes.
Any advice on would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

If you able to wait for long periods of time, shipping by sea is like 30 USD, but can take between 3 - 4 months.

Approx. how much did DHL quote you?

The estimate was about +- R10k, but I have not received a formal quote yet. Waiting for some stuff to clear first.
Last month was R6k for a 14kg box.

I'm not in import/export but I needed to move a 100kg crate to a European city. I called Qatar Cargo they supplied me with a number of a 3rd party place to call as I cannot use Qatar cargo directly but must use an agent. Price quoted was under 4K by air.

Similarly you could do the same in the reverse but China to SA? I think these agents that book cargo are collectively known as 'regulating agents' or something like that, it was a bad line with Qatar Cargo. You could contact one in China or maybe an agent locally can arrange China to SA. Maybe this helps?
