Hi all, need some advice here
I have a client who started a small business from home about a year ago, and I’ve been supplying him with PC’s, printers, scanners, what have you.
Popped in there today armed with Autopatcher to perform monthly Windows Updates, check his anti-virus is updating, etc, only to find him almost finishing building a guesthouse/lodge/B&B as an addition to his property.
Apparently the business has done quite well recently, and he’s decided he wants to expand on the number of PC’s in the office (currently 4, all networked via CAT5 to a Telkom Mega 100WR), implement some sort of PDC/backup solution and offer wireless internet access to his guests/lodgers.
So, what I’m looking for is:
1.) Recommendations on a decent PCI wireless network adapter for all the desktops (802.11g).
2.) Advice on some sort of Linux based PDC (Samba?)/backup/proxy/fileserver solution that has RADIUS support to allow domain authentication via wireless.
3.) He wants to use his Telkom Mega 100WR ADSL router as an access point, I see this has an option for RADIUS, would this work with a *nix based RADUIS server?
4.) He wants to have the office PC’s on a domain, and then a standalone PC for bookings for his B&B. Will both of these scenarios run happily side by side even if ADSL router is set to RADIUS authentication for the wireless side of things?
All advice welcomed, thanks!
