Advice needed : Canon 600D to Canon 7D

I need advice from the clever people. If I upgrade from my Canon 600D to Canon 7D (not the newest model) will I be able to use any of my current lenses ?

I don't have any fancy lenses but this is what I currently have.

1. Canon 18-55mm IS
2. Canon EFS 55-250mm
3. Canon EF 70-300mm IS USM
4. Kenko 1.4x Teleplus Pro 300 C-AF

Any lens that worked on the 600D will work on the 7D. The APS-C bodies can take either EF or EF-S mount lenses.

EDIT: It's only the full frame and APS-H bodies that restrict you to EF mount lenses.

Thank you Bwana. One more question. For wildlife and general photography will the 7D really be that much better than my current camera. What makes the 7D better ? (I know the question might sound stupid)

Off the top of my head… better AF, more focal points, faster frame rate, weather sealing, and a much better viewfinder.

It's a good upgrade - depending on the price of course. I had the 7D for a number of years and really enjoyed it.

Check the number of shutter actuations before you buy it though.

Generally how many actuations is this camera good for ? Above what no of actuations should I not consider it ?

The most often quoted number is 150,000, at least that's what it's supposed to be rated for.

Of course you can always replace it if/when it breaks but it's going to cost a few thousand rand. I just replaced one on a 1D body and it cost close to R7k.

At the end of the day it depends on cost and what sort of usage you're going to have. What I shoot in a year might be 5-10 years for you, or more.
