Morning guys.

Perhaps someone out there can advise me to assist me to get started with something..

I am looking for an open source gui container manager for docker that I can use to provision, download and configure any docker container. Does anything like this exist ?

What is the best one that the community would recommend ?

“docker” CLI and the “compose” plugin is the best GUI for managing containers.

I am sure that docker desktop works ok too

I use Portainer, but I honestly don't use it for much more than just checking the status of running containers (stats, logs, etc.) and restarting or stopping containers.

I use a docker-compose and a text editor to add remove containers as it's easier to configure advanced config options like that for my setup.

I skipped docker altogether and went straight to latest modernization. Docker is there only for on-premise but I work on a system that is cloud only, so Docker is not needed. Docker is really a fallback technology for on-prem.

+1

Who ever pays your aws bills must slip a disc at the end of every cycle...

I assume you're looking for something to run on windows with WSL2?

I which case I was looking for an alternative to Docker Desktop recently and decided the best route was:

stevedore for the docker and docker-compose elements and the portainer for web based gui.

stevedore looks really interesting.

from what I can see, this kind of "avoids" the licensing costs needed for Docker Desktop
